This was the only barrier that fit in a 47" wide opening, looked good, and is sturdy enough to withstand a jumping poodle puppy. If a pressure mounted gate won't work for you, or you don't want to install hardware in an opening, this is the gate for you.

I am using this gate in an unorthodox way to keep my kids away from the oven/stove. MY kitchen is too wide open to fence off the actual openings. It serves its purpose to a degree as an indication for them to stay away. They can still push it aside but at least I feel somewhat safer when they are in the kitchen and I am around but not directly in front of the stove. The Richelle Freestanding gate is an awesome product. It's sturdy, attractive, easy to assemble and very versatile. Unfortunately I started with the shorter size which my 12 week old cockapoo puppy hefted himself right over the second day so I exchanged it for the higher size gate and while it's too tall to walk over easily you can step over if you do it slowly.

There just is no better quality than Richell. A gate might seem ugly or cumbersome, but I get compliments on my Richell. They are just excellent quality! And the gate keeps my dogs safe.
