Before I bought this mat I had a smaller plastic one that had little pokey pieces of plastic sticking up to catch the litter. It caught the litter well enough, but one of my cats didn't like stepping on it (I assume she didn't like the feeling on her paws) so I would still get litter all over. But this mat is great. It's softer, so she actually steps on it (which is kind of the point...) and it catches most of the litter. Definitely worth the price to not have to vacuum every day!

This mat seems to catch most, if not all, of the litter! I am really happy w it, and it is soft under the feet as well which is nice. I first bought the small one, especially because I had thought that this one was way too expensive, but it didn't do much as it didn't cover enough space and the cats bypassed most of it when exiting the litterbox.
