I do not ofter leave a review, but in this case I wanted to leave one. I concider myself to be a pro when it comes to tools and can give them a run for the money even on a first try. Reviewers have mentioned burned up motors and too hard to build, this saw was a cinch to build, and if they used the oil, motors and chains are not burning up for a long time. For an 8 amp motor and the 14" chain it can cut almost as well as any midrange gas and most high end electric chain saws. Kickback was a minimum ... Read More

I still have not used this as I can't seem to put it together. The chain must be put on and is always loose and slipping off! It also has a part that I can't figure out where it goes??? Skip it!

The Factory Reconditioned Remington 14-Inch 8-Amp Electric Chain Saw #099178R was great. It took some assembling, but it worked just fine after assembly. The only item to watch out for was that the chain gets a little loose after some use and you need to tighten it, but it worked great! It got the job done with little effort. I would recommend this unit for small to mid-size tree and bush trimming and cutting.

Needed to cut a small amount of tree debris and was very pleased at performance. Just as quick as gasoline type, much to my surprise. I don't know how this would work if you used it regularly. Mine sits on the shelf until I need it again in a few years. At this price you can easily afford to do that though. Not a problem running extension cords for occasional use. No more time doing that than filling with gas on gasoline models. Need to take care not to saw the cord in two, though.

This does cut , but to me it is more a hacker than an saw. Maybe I shouldn't blame the saw because the problem could be the blade. It doesn't have enough teeth, cut is ragged and wide. Otherwise saw seems to have good power and it easy to handle.
