The description clearly states that this produces 5 megapixel images. Untrue! All of my scans thus far have been around 700k. Also, images are not sharp and colors are muddy. I am returning this.

It does everything it was said with simple and fast standalone operation. It has a color monitor, and also includes a SD card, cable, slide adeptors and power adeptor in the box. If the scanned images were acceptable, it would be a quite reasonable product. However, I found that the images were totally useless after scanned a few positive slides. I used my wolverine to scan several hundred slides that I thought were lost forever to a "rotating tray"...I can now enjoy them on my computer, e-mail the pictures & print out the special ones. The clarity was great...It was simple to use. My 2 complaints are I wish the view screen was a bit larger as my eyes aren't as good as they used to be & I copied some slides backwards. The other complaint is I wish the slide holder held more than 3 slides as it was time consuming loading/unloading ... Read More

You shouldn't expect much for the price. The scanner delivers the claim of very fast film scans for a low cost. I spent nearly as much time loading and unloading the film carrier as scanning. Images are written to an SD card (included), so the scanning work is not tethered to a computer. It is is possible to transfer the completed scans to a computer via USB if you don't have a SD reader.

Let's face it. At this price, you just don't get a really excellent slide and negative scanner. Yet, for the money, the Wolverine F2D does an adequate job of rescuing images that are slipping into oblivion from age and neglect. These are not the best possible scans and they are not richly layered. Do they preserve all the details in those old images?
