Having 22 month old twin boys and a multi level home with stairs, decks etc... we own many gates. It's these areas that are wider than 48" that are hard to secure. We have tried several of the wide area gates.....NONE COME CLOSE to this gate on all levels. First of all, this gate has the walk through door with an incredibly easy to operate handle that is childproof. It is VERY sturdy, and EASY to install. The instructions claim that it takes a half hour.....this is absolutely the truth. Easy to read instructions, versatile installation applications, for uneven areas etc.. It is really worth it. Would also highly recommend the Hands Free Gate for areas that are 48" or less....this is a walk through gate, super strong pressure mount, installs securely in five minutes.

We bought this gate to keep our new lab puppy in certain area's of the house. It is installed in a 6ft opening. My husband is over 6ft and is able to step over it (most days without tripping).
This gate can withstand our 40lb-4 month old lab. He puts his front paws on it and literally jumps straight in the air. He can't get past it because he doesn't have anything to leverage his back feet on. Other times he is bouncing off it--charging at it (trying to get to the cats). It doesn't move at all.
Each side installs with 3 screws. The gate swings easily in both directions with a squeeze of one hand. Toddlers wouldn't be able to open it, but older children might be able to with 2 hands. The slats are not large enough for our cats to walk thru, they have to climb over but can easily jump with a lab pup on their tail. :)

I installed this gate myself, the directions where easy to follow and the gate is sturdy and fits the odd shape of my stairs. I would recommend this gate to anyone.

We purchased two of these gates to cover two large areas in our home. I am very pleased with the way this gate functions. I am glad I spent a little extra money on this gate because I know it will last. Our twins have pulled on this gate and it still stands. I would highly recomend this gate.
