I just installed one of these gates and it was a snap. The gate comes with a template you tape up to show where to drill (you will want a power drill) so there's no measuring anxiety. If you have molding there are spacers to even out the hinges or brackets. In my case, I live in an old house with relatively non-square angels to just about everything. The spacers provided turned a potential disaster into five minutes of tinkering.
The gate itself has a handle that can be opened using only one hand (very important for when you carry baby). The gate can also be taken off its hinge mounting very easily by a latch located on the inner (hinge) edge of the gate. I suspect this will be nice for when folks come over. Finally, it doesn't look like a baby penitentiary due to the soft curves of the plastic and the clear window. This is a functional, simple and attractive gate and I give it five stars. My son would give it one star for it thwarts all his little efforts at elicit exploration.

I researched dozens of safety gates for our new home with wide stairs. This gate has been wonderful, and at a reasonable cost! My adventurous climber cannot get a foot hold on this one, and he loves the clear panels because he can see the action in the entry. Installation was very easy, even with my baseboard, since it includes a kit. I do have to clean the panels because my guy loves to blow on them, but I'd rather clean than worry about him climbing it. The swinging mechanism is easy to operate with one hand, and everyone comments on how attractive it is.

I purchased this gate because my son is a climber. At first, it was easy to use and really worked as a 'climb-proof' gate. Now that we've used it for several months, it's almost impossible to keep the tension adjusted enough that he can't simply pull the gate over if he tries hard.
I guess one benefit of this gate was that after trying several times to climb it & figuring out that he couldn't, he doesn't even bother trying to climb this one or the cheaper kind we bought as a second gate.
If you're planning to use this as a tension-type gate, I wouldn't recommend it.

We love this gate. We have an unusual pet that could climb the other gates and I had previously told my husband that I wish they made a clear solid side gate. When shopping in the store before our baby was born, there it was!! Now that our little one is 9 mo old, he plays peek-a-boo and makes funny faces at us while we are doing laundry! It is great!!

I had high hopes for this gate. We bought it to keep our son from reaching through the bars to tease our cat, but since our doorway has baseboards, he simply reached under it. While I appreciate the unique design, we found it wobbly and difficult to install tightly in the doorway when used as a pressure gate. Oh, and our son also figured out how to raise the latch the first day (he's 20 months). I'm returning it today.
