I purchased this gate in March for my exploring crawler, but it with stands my 3 year old. It doesn't have the swing feature with the pressure mount, only if you use the hardware will it swing. We are using the pressure mount and it works great. It doesn't leave marks on the wall from the contact pads like one of our other pressure gates (diff. brand). The handle has slider buttons, so all you have to do is push the button forward to release the handle mech. and then pull the handle itself up. Its a lot easier then other models I've incountered. Its very durable as well. My 3 year old(37 lbs.)who likes to hang on things, has hung and pulled on this gate and has never moved it out of position. The kids like it too because they can still keep an eye on what mom is doing.
The only negative I've found is that you have to add this to your cleaning list to remove little finger marks.

I bought this gate and had it harware mounted in my hall. It was easy to install and use, but the adjustment for the width broke in about 5 weeks. Its just 2 screws into chinsy plastic! If they fixed this little flaw it would be a great gate!

It has held up against our very active son's desire to explore it ... It is a fair price and seems like it will last long enough for future kids too.

We've now had this gate for THREE years (and have used it in two houses) and absolutely love it. It's easy to install and operate with one hand. And you can also *switch* it (if necessary) from a pressure-mounted gate (if you don't need it to swing) to a bolt-mounted gate.
In our last home, the opening at the top of the stairs was too large for this gate (we eventually got a Supergate V--- which worked fine for that space... but wasn't as easy to close as this one). Since we already had this gate, we used it as a pressure-mounted gate at the bottom of the stairs so our infant son couldn't climb the stairs without our guidance. When we moved to a new house, we mounted it with bolts at the top of our stairs... where we are currently using it as a swinging gate.
It's probably been opened and closed thousands of times, and it still works. I highly recommend it.

I needed a gate to keep my 55 pound bulldog out of certain rooms of the house. I tried it hardware mounted, but she dislodged it from the wall. When I pressure mount it, she can not budge it. Plus, it is very easy to adjust if I need to move her to another room in the house. Now that I am pregnant, I will definitely purchase this product for other areas of the house. The reason I gave this product 4 stars is because of the damage my dog caused when it was hardware mounted. However, I doubt a small child go do the same damage.
