I'm going mad trying to find out how tall this gate actually is! Why would a company advertise a product as extra tall and NEVER (unless I've already lost it) tell a consumer the actual height? I've looked at a dozen websites, as well as The First Year's own website. Nothing. Zip. Ziltch. No mention of the height. I'm also surprised to see no reviewers happened to mention the height.
Can anyone help me out?

I have three Sure and Secure Extra Tall gates and a twin that can climb up almost anything (fortunately her brother is more sedentary). These are the highest gates I've seen and the extra four inches make an enormous difference. They mean that my spiderbaby can't lay waste to the kitchen. Though I agree with other reviewers that the gates make a little noise (I simply wedge the gates open when not in use), I disagree that they are dislocated from the wall rather easily. If you install them properly they won't. There are also some permanent fixtures (which I haven't used) that come with the gate that you can screw into the wall that make dislocation impossible. I also love these gates because they are elegant and beautiful. All the other gates you can buy have these revolting grey/blue/peach plastic foot pads or handles that will make your hallways look cheap. I don't want to look at ugly plastic in my hallways--plastic fixtures that were designed by comittees with no aesthetic sense whatsoever. These gates are lovely and they do what they are supposed to do.

We needed a gate to keep our 20 month old out of the bathroom after he learned how to open the door. This gate fits our needs perfectly. It swings open both ways allowing the rest of the family to get in and out easily. It doesn't require hardware to install and it stays secure. My husband installed it in about 5 minutes. This gate fit our doorway without the extensions. Our daughters ages 9, 7 and 4 can work the latch themselves (after a short lesson and a few minutes of practice), but there's no way for our toddler to get it open. Being extra tall greatly lessens the chance of him climbing over it. We will be getting another one for the bottom of our stairs.

I got this gate for my 1 year old that discovered how to climb stairs... we have it pressure mounted at the bottem of the stairs so that she can't go up. I LOVE this gate. The fact that it's pressure mounted protects my wooden banisters, although still allows for swing-gate access. It comes with 2 extensions which made it cheaper then getting the hands-free and buying separate extensions. I like it better that the latch is on top instead of a step pedal as my three year old would be using her hand to push down that pedal. Also, it swings shut by itself and IS NOT LOUD. It has been absolutley great and I will probably be buying a few more for other locations in the home. I highly highly recommend this gate above all others!!!

I must admit it took awhile to get it installed right and level, but now it works great to block off our entire kitchen. The only thing we had to do was spray some wd-40 on the hinges so it didnt squeak.
