The system is easy to hook up, but takes some time getting the field size the way you want it, unless you have a round yard. I don't like the fact that you have to buy Petsafe batteries, more expensive, but I have seem them in pets stores, Home Depot, and Lowes, so they are available. I put the collar on the dog and the dog got zapped at the low setting several times. The dog was then afraid to go into the yard. Gradually, the dog started going into the yard on its own. I noticed it was learning the locations of the flags. Then one day, the dog jumped the fence, left he yard, and ended up in a cage at the SPCA. I will increase the shock level and continue working with the dog. A work in progress...

While the system seems like a great option, I could not get it to work to save my life!! We finally figured out it is inconsistent if your home is elevated at all. We are in a hilly area, which may explain it. I can't say how it would work if our home was on a flat lot, so my review is purely based on the fact that we have some elevation in our yard. Bottom line, if you are not on a completely flat lot, be aware it may not work! I give it 3 stars for the very courteous customer service, otherwise the product itself is a 1 for our home.

I am very pleased with this wireless fence. I had estimates for a fence for part of my yard for $6000 and in-ground electric for $1800. Before I spent that kind of money I thought I would give this system a try at a fraction of the cost.
At first I thought that not being able to choose a certain section of the yard would be a disadvantage but not so. My dog actually has more yard to run in and she does circles around the house, very happy pup. She quickly learned her boundries and does not venture out even when the cat teases her or a neighbor walks down the street.
I was able to find a spot in the house that allows my dog almost the full boundry limit but keeps her out of the road and on my property. I like the flexability of yard size and correction levels. We have had no malfunctions of any kind.

The maximum setting was not significant enough for us. We have a 3 car garage & large driveway that winds in front of our porch. With the maximum setting, most of the "allowed" area was taken by that area. Once she got to the grass, she probably had 30' of space. That's just not enough for her to run.
Also, when working with her, the system failed to beep in all areas. I couldn't tell if the wavelength was blocked by something, but I didn't trust it as being reliable. After 3 months, we've decided to go with an inground invisible fence for only double the price, but much more worth it.

I just got this system today. I had purchased an in ground wire system about a year ago. My husband never installed it!! I had this system set up with in a hour. I first tried the collar on level 3. When my mixed lab got shocked for the first time, she freaked out. She then would only stay on the deck. I lowered the collar to level 2. After many prompts, I got her off the deck. I put a leash on her to show her the areas. Within a short time, I was able to take off the leash and she knew when she was approaching the boundaries. This was the first time she was able to run free of her chain!! I loved watching her run free with my daughters. I think my dog wore herself out. She was much better behaved in the evening then she has ever been. This is an excellant affordable product!
