My wife an I were convinced to purchase the wireless containment system (we call it the 'zapper') by our neighbor. She has a very active golden retriever named Cindy who was always running out of their yard. That is, until they bought one of these. After about a week of having a 'zapper' Cindy was behaving wonderfully. She would go right to the edge of her yard and stare longingly at my kids playing ball 10ft away from her, but she would not cross over into our yard. Amazing!
We also have a dog who is a 'runner'. If our dog, Fenway, ever got out the door without a leash on he was off to the races. After seeing how effective the 'zapper' was with Cindy we decided to get one for Fenway. The first couple of days we were starting to regret our decision a bit because Fenway was NOT happy about the mysterious zaps he was getting. He got so freaked out about it that we literally had to drag him off the back porch because he was terrified of getting zapped in the yard.
However, we have now had the zapper for almost a month and we couldn't be happier with it. We spent the first week training Fenway and showing him around his new boundaries. He is now loving his new found freedom! He no longer is bound by a leash or a run in the back yard. He is free to run and frolic anywhere within his boundaries. We have looked at each other a few times and asked why we didn't get one of these earlier. It is making our lives and Fenway's life much happier.
We also looked at the invisible fence products, but we felt that this one was a better idea. The major problem we were concerned about with the invisible fence is that once your dog has broken through the 'zap zone' he is home free. With this product, the dog keeps getting zapped until he comes back into the safe zone. The only drawback to this product is that the 'safe zone' is circular only. This wasn't a problem for us because have a large back yard and could comfortably use the full 90ft radius. However, if you have an oddly shaped or long, thin yard you won't get the maximum benefit of this system.
In short, I LOVE this product and highly recommend it!

I researched several types of invisible fencing since we do not want a physical fence in our yard. A friend recommended the wireless fence and I made the purchase in April. Our Puggle puppy barely met the 10lb. limit when it was purchased. Now she is 23 lbs. and it is absolutely perfect. We live on an acre lot and adjusted the transmitter so that she has the run of the entire back yard but she cannot go into neighbor's yards or the street.
It only took about 2 days to train her though the information suggests 2 weeks. For the first 2 weeks we did not let her out without us there to supervise and monitor. We use the word "safe" with her in training and now all we to do is say "safe" and she comes closer to the house. Of course, the correction beep brings her back as well. She has only been shocked twice in the several months we've had the fence and even set on the lowest shock level - it worked!
I would recommend this product for any dog owner with a pet whose behavior is normal. Our Puggle is friendly and relatively easy to train (except house training it seems!)
It is such fun to have dinner on the deck or just hang out and know that she is safe in her "space" in the yard.

We recently spent about $4000 on a new wood fence to contain our dog, from which she quickly learned to escape. She became quite a nuisance to neighbors by getting into their garbage and stealing items from their yards (shoes, a backpack, even a live chicken!) so in desperation, I searched for another means to keep her contained. I thought we would have to resort to an in-ground electronic fence, when I heard about this wireless product. After doing some research and reading all the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. I was really hoping it would solve our problem, although I have to admit I was skeptical. When it arrived, I was able to set up the perimeter in about 30 minutes (it's definitely easier to do with two people!) I then started working with my dog on the level 2 that they recommend. I found that the next level up worked better for her (she's kind of stubborn!) but it really didn't take her long to figure out where she needed to stop. I only had to work with her for one session. The biggest test for me was the next morning when I left for work. Normally, she would run after my car for a couple of blocks and I was always worried that she'd get hit by a car. Well, the first morning after we put in this system, she started to run after my car but when she got to the end of her "safe zone", she stopped and went back to the house! I couldn't believe it. My husband says this is the best purchase we've made in a long time...

WOW! We recently moved and purchased this system for our 2 dogs, a lab/shepard mix and a Lab/rotweiler mix. The instructions said it would take about 2 weeks to train. The dogs picked up on this about the second time my husband walked the perimeter w/them and had it totally in 5-6 days. They don't chase deer anymore. The shepard was very timid at first and refused to come off the porch unless on the leash. She has since become very comfortable in the yard. We are so happy that we don't have to tether or kennel the dogs. They have free reign in their area and we don't have to worry about them getting on the busy highway. The system does take a little tweaking. We did notice that a satellite dish at one end of the house interfered with the signal, so we had to move the unit to the other end. You can't just plug it in and let the dogs do. Follow the instruction book to train the dogs properly. It really works if you do it right.

We spent about $4000 building a beautiful wood fence to contain our new dog. Unfortunately, she quickly learned how to get out and became a nuisance by getting into garbage cans and stealing from the neighbors (shoes, book bag, even a live chicken!) I decided to give this wireless system a try after reading all the positive reviews. The system arrived yesterday and it took me about 1/2 hr to get the perimeter set to fully cover our yard. It didn't take my dog very long to figure out that she didn't want to go past the perimeter. The true test was this morning...she usually runs after my car when I leave for work and I've been afraid she would get hit by another car. This morning, she started to run after my car and quickly stopped when she reached the perimeter!
