This is one of the best investments I have made in a long time - easy to use and well worth the money spent. My puppy learned very quick about the flags and the beeping noise on the collar is great. As soon as she hears the beep - she backs up. The only thing I wish they could change is the size of the receiver on the collar - a little big for a 7 month old Beagle puppy. I would recommend this product to anyone who has a pet that likes being outside.

This system is definitely worth purchasing. The 180 ft. diameter "safe-area" is plenty big enough...and we live on 5 acres. Would definitely recommend!

I have spent this weekend trying to establish the boundaries of this system. The first attempt took a little while however we placed the flags as instructed. Fitted the collar to the dog & went outside for the 1st training session. I found it very hard to hear the beeping once the collar was on my dog however I soon realised that even before we were within 2 feet of the flags she was being shocked. I felt terrible. we took the collar off and realised that the boundaries had changed. The instructions say that it can fluctuate however we were never able to get it to beep in the same place twice. Sometimes we would get one beep & it would just stop. We tried to place the transmitter in three different locations today and each gave poor results. There were areas between flags placed 6 feet apart that we never heard a beep and could just keep on walking. I am more than willing to spend the time training my dog but I could not even set the boundaries. We changed the height of the transmitter, moved our car out of the way, moved anything we felt that may be affecting it without success. I am sorry but it did not work well for me. I will be returning the system.

My dog is one of the most hyper dogs I've ever seen. If she ever gets a chance she escapes when the door opens and chases squirrels off in the woods. We live on a highway and one of my other dogs was killed so I always worried about her escaping. I got the fence yesterday, turned it on and set the flags like it says. It says for hyperactive dogs set to the high setting so they'll learn and then you're supposed to train them for 14 days. I set it to high and did the 1st days training, took her out the boundary with some treats. She stepped out of the boundaries, yelped and went back to the house. So I turned it down to the lowest setting and she's trained already! Only one day, it's great. So if you have a small dog, even if they're hyper they might only need the low setting. Anyways this product is great, no more leashes getting tangled on everything and no more going out in the cold to let my dog out in the morning! Just open the door and she comes back when she's ready!

We do not have a fence, so the PetSafe wireless fence unit has significantly improved the quality of life for the dog and us.
We adjusted the base unit to allow the forest creatures to escape. We weren't able to put the invisible fence where we had planned because the chain-link enclosure (the dog's "sand box") beside our driveway interfered with the signal.
The collar uses up the specialized batteries quickly, so keep a supply on hand. Check the collar daily before using. When the battery is replaced, the collar must be reset to the appropriate shock level. We left the boundary flags up for 10 days although the dog figured it out the first day. My dog has only experienced one shock (at a setting of four) on the first day; since then, the beep is enough to keep him within the boundaries.
PetSafe retains control over the selling price of its products, so there are no bargain basement prices by any vendor.
