I've used this in several locations in my home with no issues. I'd recommend it to every parent that has an area to block off.
Some drawbacks that kept it from getting a 5 are:
-Isn't as forgiving at making strange shapes as it claims, i.e. it won't work between a wall and steps.
-I've had some difficulties with the vertical bars staying on the clips of the horizontal bars. Once it's in place the tension keeps them there, it's just the getting it in place that can be tricky.
-The tension spring can be a little too strong. If you follow the directions to the word, my wife can't pull the bar in the 1/2" to place the gate and if I do, she can't get it out. We tend to "screw" it into/out of place by turning the adjusters. Our baby is big and strong and the cats have fought on/around the gate and it has never failed.
All in all, it works better than any gate I've had and I highly recommend it.

We have 2 of these gates and love them. It says not for use with pets, but we bought them for our dogs and they work great. The only issue is that they are a pain to adjust. We have one open as wide as it goes and making it smaller takes quite some time. But they're very durable and open wider than any other gate I've seen.

We got this gate to keep my soon-to-be-crawling son contained. So far I am pleased with it. We needed it for a wide space and the original gates I bought were not wide enough but this one works. I have not been able to push it loose yet and I don't think my son will be able to either. It was a little difficult to install but nothing back breaking. I like that we can travel with this one when we go away for the holidays. I also liked that it was cheaper here than at Babies R Us with free shipping.

We now have two of these gates and they're great. My son pushes and practially hangs on them and we have yet to even see one budge. They are wonderful for wide doorways where you don't want to have to install something permanent. We put them up/take them down at least a couple of times a day, and it only takes a matter of seconds. The width is also easy to adjust if you need to move them to a different space. I would highly recommend this gate to anyone.

Purchased as a pet gate for a new puppy. Works great. Keeps the puppy in the kitchen on the tile floor while we are housebreaking her. No messes in the "hard to clean" areas of the house.
