we purchased 4 permanent mounting gates for our new home because they were the only permanent gates we could find that were 48 inches. after mounting one and nearly screaming over how difficult it was and tearing up our brand new walls and woodwork, we decided to try to find pressure mounted gates that were walk throughs. that proved difficult again because of our 48 in openings. we finally found these gates and with the extensions, they work great. they mount very securely and are easy enough for us but hard for our 14 month old. we have even had a man whose wife runs a daycare where we got them because he liked the gates too! we really like these gates a lot.
