I'd been using Dr. Elsey's for some time, but decided to give this one a chance when I was shopping at a store that didn't sell Dr. Elsey's. This litter is worse in almost every way. It's dustier than Dr. Elsey's, it doesn't control odor as well (in fact, the litter itself has an unpleasant smell), and it does not clump as well. My cat tries to bury his waste repeatedly because he doesn't like it either. It may be biodegradable and septic safe, but with the downsides I mentioned and the cost, I'm going back to Dr. Elsey's.
I still gave it two stars because it clumps a little bit and is better than an average grocery store litter.

A skeptic turned believer! After 20 years using grocery store brands, I bought this upon Vet's recommendation. And my three new kittens took to it right away. I scoop out once a day and both litter boxes remain odor- free! And my favorite part: no more poop-baggies--I flush it all down the toilet!

Here's a quick outline of my review in case you don't want to read the rest of my babble!
Reasons to buy World's Best:
1. health of your cat (traditional bentonite clay is hazardous to cat's health)
2. subtle corn fragrance, no artificial perfumes
3. clumps well
4. original formula not at all dusty, but extra strength is milled finer and does have slight bit of powdery residue
5. lasts longer than same volume of traditional cat litter (I don't know why, but it is true!)
The most important reason to a natural kitty litter such as the "World's Best" is that there is evidence that the bentonite clay used in traditional kitty litters is hazardous to your cat's health. I just when through a heartbreaking nightmare with my own four year old cat that resulted in having to put him to sleep (and racking up a huge vet bill), and I know in retrospect that his problems stemmed from cheap litter and cheap food. I didn't really think there was a difference. Now I know better, and I'm making sure that my new cat has quality products.
World's Best is made from corn so there is no health concerns if the cat ingests some while cleaning itself. It has a subtle and pleasant smell (like livestock grain or feed). It clumps just like the clay litter that we're all used to. I've read various reviews -- some people claim it clumps great, others say it doesn't clump at all. I'm in the "clumps great" category, but if you try to scoop it up immediately, I can see where some people would say it doesn't clump well. You've got to give it a few minutes to "set" and then it clumps beautifully.
Some people claimed that it was "dusty" but that is not entirely true. I have tried both the original formula and the extra strength version. The extra strength is milled a bit finer, and it does have a bit of a powdery residue when filling the box. However, the original formula has slightly bigger granules, and I did not find it dusty at all.
This litter also lasts longer than the same amount of traditional litter. I'm not sure why, but it is true! I think it takes less corn litter to clump up the wetness than the traditional clay litter.
And yes, it is pricey, but take it from someone who has just been through a health disaster with her now dead cat . . . don't be penny wise and pound foolish. Save yourself the heartache and the vet bills, and stay away from cheap litters and cheap food. You get what you pay for . . .

I was having problems with my cats ingesting the clay based litters and was looking for an alternative. I spent months and months trying different cat litters before settling on World's Best Cat Litter. Yes, there can be issues with odor control, but that is only a problem if your cat is the type that doesn't bury their business. This litter clumps better than clay based litter and is far less dusty. I've noticed a lot less little paw prints on the furniture, since I made the switch. The clumping power of this litter is so good, that if you are very tidy about scooping (which I am), you only need to do a complete litter change every 3-4 months! I scoop out used litter and replace it with fresh litter, twice daily, and the boxes stay clean for months (and I have 3 cats). I've tried both the original formula and the Extra Strength (multicat) formula and can tell you that there is no difference. If anything the Extra Strength formula tends to be a bit more dusty than the original formula.

I do like that this managed to both clump and not be made out of clay, so in that regard it's great. But it seems corn is about the dustiest material you can make cat litter out of, because it is absolutely not dust free as claimed. A cloud of dust rises whenever the litter is slightly disturbed. In adition it smells "all natural" - like weird, food-y corn smell that then gets mixed with the smell of cat urine, which it's not very good at masking. It didn't track terribly and my cats used it readily. But I think the best clumping non-clay cat litter is Scientific Professional cat litter, so this one isn't the world's best after all.
