If you need a collar like this, this is the only rechargable one! both collar and handset recharge!!!! avoid batteries.

The unit that hangs around the neck is very heavy. So heavy, in fact, that I have not used it so far. Also, I did not expect to have to shave the neck to create a contact for the two prongs that are supposed to make contact. This is not at all what I expected.

We have 6 month Shar Pei puppy. They are known for being a very stubborn breed. She would just ignore everything up to the 8 setting but when when reset to 10 she started coming when called....after 2 days she was a perfect little girl. I think the setting and resetting could be easier and the positive tone seemed to confuse her. After we omitted the positve tone and kicked it up to 10 it was easy.

I wish I would have bought this years ago for a previous dog that I owned. I use this collar on a dog that weighs 12 pounds and the collar would easily adjust to fit to an even smaller dog. We use it for many reasons i.e. stopped her nipping at the kids, walking off leash w/o running away, not barking, etc. This product is a miracle. I absolutely love it!!!

I have been using this for about a year. Like the other reviewer, my dog is also on a radio fence at home. I was concerned that this collar would be confusing. I think at first it was, but after 2 days of training, my Rocco would come on command. For the most part, now I only need to send him a tone-only correction if he doesn't come and he responds to that. I very rarely need to send the zap correction.
Petsafe makes great products and they stand by them. It is important to read all the training guidelines to make sure that you use it correctly.
