When it comes to gates that you can use that attach directly to your stairs spindles there aren't many to chose form. Hence the kdco one was the only one I found that you could install without drilling holes into my beautiful wood bannisters.
However you have to buy both assembelies and once it is all said and done you ahve spent over $150 dollars for a safety gate. I guess its worth it to protect the little ones.

I am very impressed with this gate. It is very durable! I have two older children who slam this and climb on it and it still holds up to keep the baby safe from the stairs. The installation directions were very sketchy but I have a carpenter in the family so we were able to install it okay. We did have to read the directions several times to understand. It latches tight every time! I would definetely recommend this gate for stairway safety!!

Ditto to all the other reviews that say the gate is extremely difficult to install, but it's worth it once it's in place -- it works very well

installed 2 of these at top and bottom of stairs. Really bad instructions- led me to have to reassemble the gate 5 times during the installation process- and I am very experienced with installing and assembling products.
After they have been installed, we are very satisfied- our 2 yr old still hasn't figured out the latch but it is fairly convenient for us adults to open and close. They look pretty nice too.
I would recommend this gate but only if you don't mind spending 2-4 hrs on assembly and installation.

We've got a an opening at the top of our steps that is angled, and the posts that are at either side aren't directly across from each other, one is several inches back. Every pressure mount gate I found wouldn't fit and most gates had to have both sides perfectly even. This gate allows for all those issues and works very well. Complaints: the attachments to the railing could be stronger. I'm always worried that we'll put too much pressure on it and tear it out. I also wish the gate was a bit easier to latch, you have to pull on the gate, pull up and pull back the latch and this adds to wear on the connection. All in all I really would recommend it.
